My Speech Videos …
I couldn’t have picked a better challenge than preparing for this educational. I was selected to present at our Toastmasters District 42 Spring Convention on April 29 to May 1 in Regina, Saskatchewan, CANADA. I learnt so much more about INNERpreneuship along with reinforcing my belief that it’s time has come and it’s here to stay. Read the full script here or just watch the video below;

How Toastmasters Helped Me – From the D42TM.org website
Feedback is very important. In Toastmasters it is the principle method we improve our speaking and presentation skills. We may think we are speaking and presenting well. We can easily overlook the simplest of quirks we have. It is not until we get feedback from another member, that “the light goes on”.
When a member progresses, a good practise is to record your speeches. You can then replay at your leisure to see what you like or don’t like about your speaking style. Then, add another magnitude of feedback. Purchase yourself an inexpensive video recorder and ask a club member to do a video recording of you speaking. You can then start a video collection of yourself – even use it as examples if you decide to do a Youth Leadership Program (YLP).
Now both your sound & body language is recorded. You can then fully explore your development. It’s the “total package” everyone sees when you speak.
You have to realize, everyone has their own speaking style. It’s the style a person becomes comfortable with. When we watch other speakers, we are attracted to portions thereof they have used to appeal to us. So we strive to incorporate such a practise into our speech, the next time around. Despite all the public speakers and presenters out there, we learn to develop our own style, that we find works for us. When we observe others, we see parts that were successful and we ask, “Why did the audience like that part?” So we incorporate such into ours. It is our own feedback methodology when observing other speakers, professional, amateurs and Toastmasters alike.
There is ALWAYS room for 1 more speaking style – YOUR Speaking Style !
The videos above are just such examples.
